Summary: Books illustrated by Eloise Wilkin are some of my very favorites. Baby Listens (a Little Golden Book Classic), written by Esther Wilkin, the illustrator’s sister, is just one of these books. This book was recently given to my children as a gift, so we enjoyed reading it for the first time today. It seems that many of these books are geared more for little girls, but this one is about a baby boy. My son particularly enjoyed this book as it is about common sounds heard throughout the house and neighborhood. He got stuck on the page picturing a vintage fire truck and showed me the various objects and sounds he knew on that page over and over.
Pros: Detailed, vintage, captivating illustrations. A perfect number of words for toddlers mixed with sounds that boys, especially, like to mimic.
Cons: You WILL read this book over and over! 🙂
Age Range: Newborn to 7
